By the Numbers: How can one year of donations from the Walmart Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign help MOFC?
In April 2024, Mid-Ohio Food Collective partnered with Walmart and Sam’s Club for the 11th year in a row for Fight Hunger. Spark Change., an annual campaign that lets shoppers address food insecurity in their communities by rounding up at checkout or purchasing products from participating suppliers.
For the past several years, the generosity of Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers in central and eastern Ohio has allowed MOFC to distribute more food to people in need—and just how much more may surprise you! As we wrap up the 2024 campaign, we’re looking back to 2023’s donation numbers to learn the impact that Fight Hunger. Spark Change. had for us last year.

Of course, 2023 was not the only year that Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers have stepped up to address food insecurity through Fight Hunger. Spark Charge. MOFC has participated in the campaign for more than a decade, and cumulative donations totaled more than $732,000 between 2020 and 2023.
That’s in addition to grants and other funding that Walmart and Sam’s Club have provided MOFC. All told, we’ve received more than $1.8 million in financial donations through Fight Hunger. Spark Change., the Walmart Foundation, and related sources since fiscal year 2016.
