In July, MOFC was pleased to welcome neighbors to the Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop for its first-ever produce giveaway. Seventy-five families picked up a total of 250 pounds of garden-fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, and herbs—all free of charge thanks to the Mid-Ohio Farm team.

“Our farm isn’t just in the Hilltop neighborhood. It’s part of it,” said MOFC Senior Project Manager Audrey Beam. “Now that we’re up and running, we want to give back. It’s what neighbors do.”
The Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop celebrated its grand opening in August 2024. Visitors and volunteers can now see cutting-edge agriculture practices at work, such as vertical growing towers, soil-free container farming, aquaculture, and more.
In addition to being a learning and gathering space, the Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop is quickly becoming a local point of interest. Ingrid Dunson lives in the Wheatland Crossing senior housing complex by the farm and picked up produce at the July event. She and her neighbors have watched with excitement as the space developed.
On doctor’s orders to eat healthily on fixed budget, Ingrid is thankful for the produce giveaway. And with the farm right next door and more distributions planned for the fall, she and her neighbors look forward to getting more garden-fresh crops.
“The people in the building are excited to see it. We’re so grateful,” Ingrid said. “This is going to be a blessing to me. I’m going home right now to make a salad!”
