Organization puts out call-to-action for volunteers to return

GROVE CITY, Ohio — Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) hosted a Volunteer Live Update this evening to brief its volunteers on the organization’s response to the pandemic and the timing to re-open volunteer slots. This virtual event was created  to give an update on how volunteer activities have evolved over the past year, the steps that have been taken to keep them safe as they return and how that can engage in our new work.

Pre-pandemic, MOFC benefited from more than 13,000 volunteers who donated nearly 64,000 hours to its work.  During the pandemic in 2020, the organization hosted less than 3,000 volunteers.

“Volunteers have been critical to our success throughout our more than 40 year history,” said Matt Habash, President & CEO of Mid-Ohio Food Collective. “The National Guard has done an amazing job with helping us serve nearly 200,000 families throughout the pandemic.  Their humanitarian mission is expected to end in September; it will be crucial to rebuild a volunteer base that was decimated due to the pandemic, so we can continue to connect our community to nutritious food.
