Mid-Ohio Kitchen Prepares for 2025 Summer Feeding Season

School is out for the summer, and Mid-Ohio Kitchen’s summer feeding program has begun. From June 2 to August 8, the 11-person kitchen team will prepare and distribute breakfast, lunch, and meal bundles to thousands of hungry kids.

The team distributed a record-setting 110,000 healthy, fresh meals across 50 feeding sites in Franklin and Licking Counties last summer. To prepare for this year’s efforts, they’ve been busy following up with potential sites, recruiting drivers and building routes, updating menus, taking stock of inventory, and gathering volunteers.

“Mid-Ohio Kitchen is committed to nourishing children all year. In the summer, the need increases, and we boost our efforts to meet that need,” said MOFC Director of Prepared Food Sha-Wana Pressley. “Our summer meal program makes sure kids continue to have access to the nutritious meals they depend on during the school year.”

MOFC’s “No School Means No Lunch” campaign helps raise funds specifically for the summer feeding program. Families who rely on free or reduced-cost school meals often struggle to make ends meet when school’s out. MOFC’s summer feeding program helps bridge that gap, Sha-Wana said.
