By the Numbers: How Far Does Walmart Fight Hunger. Spark Change. Take MOFC?

Food scale with numbers

In March 2025, Mid-Ohio Food Collective partnered with Walmart and Sam’s Club for the 12th year in a row for Fight Hunger. Spark Change., an annual campaign that lets shoppers address food insecurity in their communities by rounding up at checkout or purchasing products from participating suppliers.

The generosity of Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers in central and eastern Ohio has allowed MOFC to distribute more food to people in need—and just how much more may surprise you! As we wrap up the 2025 campaign, we’re looking back to 2024’s donation numbers to learn the impact that Fight Hunger. Spark Change. had for us last year.

Of course, 2024 was not the only year that Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers have stepped up to address food insecurity through Fight Hunger. Spark Change. MOFC has participated in the campaign for more than a decade, and cumulative donations totaled more than $893,000 between 2020 and 2024.

There’s still time to do your part this year, too! Throughout March 2025, donations and roundups at the register in-store and online—plus the purchase of select products from participating suppliers—mean more food and resources for people facing hunger.
